Two-ounce Lunar coins first became known to us as an affordable alternative to the 1-ounce Dragon, a coin which sold out its 30,000 coin striking a few years ago and started to command a large premium immediately.

The 2-ounce series commenced with the year 2000 Dragon, and is available for each year from 2000 through 2007.

These oversized issues don’t enjoy the popularity of the smaller coins, and are not issued in limited mintages, thus offering the opportunity to buy the same well-crafted designs in larger specimens. And, these larger pieces actually are more affordable on a per-ounce basis.
