All of Asia will celebrate the year 2005 as
the Year of the Rooster in the Chinese Lunar
New Year cycle.
Legend has it that thousands of years ago,
on a Chinese New Year, Buddha summoned all the
animals of his kingdom, but only 12 showed up.
To honor the 12, each animal present was given
a year of its own, in the order that they arrived.
People subsequently born in those years are said
to share the characteristics of that year's animal.
Each Year of the Rooster gold coin is a beautiful
example of what can be done in .9999 fine gold
bullion, as struck to the precise standards of
the Perth Mint.
Mintages will be limited, and distribution
of these Lunar Series coins usually ends by November
of the series year. As with the other Lunar animals,
only 30,000 of the 1-ounce coins will be struck. Once
the production and distribution is complete,
the secondary market takes over and prices may
no longer be simply gold value plus a percentage.
These pure (99.99%) gold bullion coins are
each encapsulated in individual round plastic
holders for protection.
